Good news for soap opera fans! “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” will find new life on the Internet!
The network has licensed the canceled soap operas in a multi-year deal allowing their stories to continue beyond their broadcast termination.
A company will produce and deliver the soaps via online formats and other “emerging platforms,” including Internet-enabled television sets, according to the announcement. Under the terms of the arrangement, the programs will continue to be delivered with “the same quality and in the same format and length.”
No other information was released, including when either show might resume under the agreement or whether their current actors would be retained.
“All My Children” will disappear from ABC’s schedule after Sept. 23. “One Life to Live” will end its run on the network in January.
