It’s been a week since Coldplay released fifth album Mylo Xyloto, and fans have had a full seven days to savor the sounds of their new material.
Today Last.fm Trends looks at how Mylo Xyloto has affected their charts, and how fans are reacting.
The album itself has gained 2,270,435 plays from 59,099 listeners so far with its tracks topping Coldplay’s own charts, but its effect can be seen far beyond just their artist page.
They’ve made it a second consecutive week at the top of the global artist charts, sitting above Radiohead who performed a similar feat with The King Of Limbs in February. Tracks from Mylo also dominate the global tracks chart, and they’ve increased their weekly listeners by over 13,000.
The band also make an appearance in the Loved Tracks chart, with 1,861 loves for second Mylo Xyloto single “Paradise” in the past week – suggesting that the album release has brought it to many more ears than as a single.

Most impressively of all however, is how the band’s scrobbles have altered: practically overnight they’ve shot straight up past 2,000,000 scrobbles per week. That’s an incredible amount, and is more than the weekly totals for Radiohead, Adele and Rihanna combined.
Learn more about Coldplay at their Last.fm page. Meanwhile, Last.fm Trends brings you the news in scrobbles every weekday.
