How Did People’s Choice Award Winner Maroon 5 Get Name?

No surprise Maroon 5 took home the Best Band People’s Choice Award last night. What may surprise you is how they got their name.

Maroon 5 completed their amazing year last night by taking home the People Choice Award for Best Band. Here’s some fun facts about Adam Levine and guys from Brentwood CA (Southern California)

The leading rumor about how Maroon Five name is the some of the band members attended Five Towns College in Long Island, though they did not graduate there. The school’s “mascot” is The Sounds, and the colors are Maroon and white. They got “5” from the name of the school, and “Maroon” from the school’s colors.

Other than that the secret is pretty tight lipped with Adam Levine & the group that was once known as Kara’s Flowers.

Former frontman of band Kara’s Flowers.
