Wow! This is totally unexpected! The lawyer representing [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Sugarland[/lastfm] in the aftermath of when their stage collapsed at the Indiana Fair says: “the fans voluntarily assumed risk by attending the show.”
Last August, just before [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Sugarland[/lastfm] took stage and following a set by [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Sara Bareilles[/lastfm] at the Indian State Fair, a sudden gust of wind sent scaffolding and speakers crashing into the crowd. One concert goer said the stage “snapped like a toothpick.”
Today, MSN.com is reporting that the attorney representing Sugarland called the powerful winds “act of God.” The attorney said that fair officials and the company who set up the stage were responsible for the set up and that the fans voluntarily assumed risk by attending the show.
“Some or all of the plaintiffs’ claimed injuries resulted from their own fault.”
