A.J. McLean is part of the boy band Backstreet Boys. Prior to their success in the 90s, A.J. used to be friends with actor Ryan Gosling and the two even lived in the same apartment building. At the time they both were trying to jump-start their careers. Ryan had joined the “Mickey Mouse Club” and A.J. was trying to get their band noticed.

In an interview with Celeb Buzz, Gosling admitted he didn’t think the band would succeed since they seemed too similar to New Kids on the Block. He was wrong, and after the Backstreet Boys took off, so did his friendship with A.J. McLean. Gosling said he tried several times to reach out to A.J., but A.J. blew him off.

Now, as Ryan Gosling’s acting career soars and the Backstreet Boys take a backseat, A.J. gave TMZ a message for Ryan:

“More importantly, I want to say to Mr. Ryan Gosling, I am so sorry, I didn’t call you back, dude.”

He insisted it was a misunderstanding and he wouldn’t blow off his friend.

“He’s not only a great actor, and a handsome man, but he’s a great singer,” added A.J.

A.J. wants to reconnect with Ryan and even said he could join his band. Insisting they need to reconnect, he urged Ryan to meet him at the gym to exchange numbers.
