It’s fairly common to get engaged around the holiday season, but perhaps not as common to propose when you are getting arrested.
For one lucky woman in Elk City, Oklahoma, this was her proposal.
A man named Justin Harrel was spotted recently by an officer in a local park who learned he had two outstanding warrants for obtaining cash or merchandise with fake checks. Harrel was in the company of his girlfriend.
“I advised Justin that he was under arrest and directed him to turn around and place his hands behind his back,” the officer wrote in his police report, according to CBS News. “Justin said, ‘Steve, let’s talk about this. Give me five minutes.'”
Despite being under arrest, Harrel explained he was about to propose to his girlfriend and, shockingly, he wanted to continue with his proposal.
Perhaps in the spirit of Christmas, the officer agreed. Harrel proposed and his girlfriend eventually said yes. However, since Harrel was in handcuffs, the officer had to retrieve the ring for the bride-to-be.
Congratulations? This is definitely one proposal story friends and family will always remember.
