Billy is 5 years old, and lives with his family in DeFuniak Springs, FLorida. Before his family was sitting down for dinner, Billy called 911. Not to report a fire in the oven or anyone choking on pre-dinner snacks, but to ask the police if they’d like to join his family for dinner.
The dispatcher who answered the phone said she was a little confused, but it made her smile. A statement from Monica Webster, who is the Lead Communications Officer: “With all the bad calls we take on a daily basis, this one was a welcomed happy call that made all of us smile.”
Apparently Billy hadn’t yet be taught that 911 is for emergencies only, but the police weren’t angry. Two officers went by the house anyway, and delivered Billy a police badge, and let him sit in the police cruiser too.
