Madonna Covers Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic,’ Mocks Trump

Unflattering images of the president-elect and 'Dumbo' splashed across the screen.

Madonna covered Britney Spears’ “Toxic” live in concert on December 2 and her version was unlike anything the crowd had heard before.

The pop culture icon took on the Spears hit during her Tears of a Clown event at Art Basel Miami Beach. For the performance, Madonna was seated in a chair and dressed as a pink clown. As she slowly sang the words, “Don’t you know that you’re toxic,” images of Donald Trump appeared in the background. Meanwhile, quotes from the President-elect popped up on-screen while “Pink Elephants on Parade” from the Disney film Dumbo was broadcast.

The evening served as a benefit concert for Madonna’s charity, Raising Malawi, a foundation working to end extreme poverty and improve human rights in Malawi. Billed as a Night of Art, Mischief & Music, Friday’s event raised $7.5 million for the cause.
