Mariah Carey Suing Over Cancelled Concerts

2017 really does seem like the year of the lawsuit. Bieber, Nestle, Chipotle, and now Mariah Carey is suing over concerts she cancelled.

Wait, she’s suing over concerts that SHE cancelled?

According to Hollywood Reporter, in October last year, she had a couple shows scheduled in Argentina. After thee contract was signed, the first of 3 payments from the promoter was due. Another the next month, and the final payment due by September. Just a few days before the concert in October, a large part of the balance was still unpaid, so she cancelled the shows. Per her contract, she was allowed to cancel the shows, but still receive full payment for the show. That’s basically the same way Kanye got paid for his tour after cancelling everything following his breakdown.

Mariah is claiming damage to her reputation and that she missed out on other things she could have made money on because she had those dates in Argentina blocked out – basically she missed out on other gigs too. Long story short, promoter doesn’t pay, she cancels. Promoter still doesn’t pay, so she sues to recover original agreed pay plus damages.
