No, Kanye isn’t going to college, but it’s a course entirely about Kanye West. It’s being offered by Washington University in St. Louis. It will touch on all aspects on Kanye, including his Twitter history and topics like “Who is Kanye West and Why is He in the Flashing Lights?,” “I Love Kanye, or How Critique Slips Into Hate,” and even a portion called “The Swift Moment,” which refers back to the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards “incident” where he interrupted Taylor Swift as she was accepting her award.
The course is being called “Politics of Kanye West: Black Genius and Sonic Aesthetics,” and there’s a waiting list for the class which has room to accept 75 students. The professor, Dr. Jeffrey McCune, says that his students often reference his music and trends, and that Kanye should be taken seriously as a cultural icon. Check out more details on the class here.
