A 10 year old, Richard Rodriguez was left in a running car in Chicago while his mother went to retrieve something. Richard almost opened the door for his mom before realizing that it wasn’t his mom returning to the car, but one of the carjackers. She jumped in the driver’s seat while someone else got in the passenger seat, and they took off. The boy was hiding in the back because he was afraid he was going to get hurt.
After making it about 4 blocks away, they realized the boy was in the back seat, and told him to “get out fast.” As he was exiting the car, they noticed he was wearing his backpack, and that’s when they told him to “have a good day at school.”
Richard was dropped off unharmed, and returned home. The car is gone, but Richard is safe and sound.
