A couple, apparently bored, decided to prank their neighbor by ordering takeout deliveries at odd hours. The fist one at 11:30 at night, the next one just a few hours later after 1am. In all, 13 orders were placed over a 10-day span, at any random time of the day or night.
The victim said that she was left “dreading” knocks on the door, and was beginning to wrongfully accuse her friends and acquaintances of being the person who was making the orders.
Eventually, the culprits were tracked down based on their phone number that was used to place the orders. 23 year old Alan Ward and 19-year-old Kirsty Ogle, the woman’s next door neighbors, were eventually caught. Each of them were fined about $190, and ordered to pay the same amount to their neighbor as a “compensation.”
Their defence for placing the orders, quote, “it was unemployment making silly work for idle hands.” More details here.
