Firefighter Marc Hadden from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina started his day like any other day. He was at the firehouse with his fellow firefighters, and he says it was a bit of a slow day that day.
Then a call came in for a woman with abdominal pains. When they got to the scene, they found out that abdominal pains were actually labor pains, so they put the woman on oxygen and an IV drip, but as they were getting ready to leave for the hospital, the baby got impatient. They delivered her right there in the back of the ambulance.
It was later at the hospital that Marc found out that the woman planned to give the baby up for adoption, and that’s when he (and his wife) made the decision to adopt. They were hoping for a third baby for their family, and had talked about adoption, so this turned out to be a good sign.
They got the paperwork started, and when little Gracie was only 2 days old, they took her home. This happened back in 2011, but the story was just told. Marc says that Gracie, now 5, knows that she was adopted, and has an idea of the full story, but she’ll need some more details once she’s old enough to understand, says Marc.
Congratulations to the families involved! See much more on the story here.
