Distracted pumping can happen to anyone, I guess. This Florida Sheriff’s deputy was pumping gas, but it started to rain. She hopped back in the cruiser to wait out the storm, and apparently got distracted with what we’re going to assume was, ahem, paperwork, and once she was finished up, she drove off.
Only problem was that she forgot to grab the pump handle from the side of her cruiser and send it back to it’s cozy home on the side of the pump. Luckily the pump has those nice safety disconnects that break free with some force, and neither the pump, nozzle, car, or fuel hose was damaged. Maybe the ego, a little, but that will go away in a couple weeks once everyone forgets about this story.
The Sheriff’s office had a good sense of humor about the situation though, as they said in a Facebook post:
When you’re just in a hurry to get back on the job…
No gas pumps were harmed in the making of this photo.
