It’s scheduled for release sometime in July, and it’s being called the world’s first transgender doll. Before you ask, no, it doesn’t have both parts, it’s a “regular girl doll,” but it’s modeled after Jazz Jennings, who is one of the youngest trans-icons, and who identified as a girl at age 5.
The doll is made by the Tonner Doll Company. While they normally market their dolls to adults, this one is being targeted towards kids and those who feel like they need a doll that they can identify with. Jazz says that when she was growing up, she loved playing with dolls but had a hard time finding one that represented her.
Jazz says on her Instagram page, “For those asking: the doll is considered to be the first ‘transgender’ doll because it’s based on an individual who is trans. Of course it is still just a regular girl doll because that’s exactly what I am: a regular girl!”
