Ed Sheeran Is Breaking Guinness World Records

He’s not JUST a great guy and musician, but he’s also a published world-record holder of several different titles. They mostly have to do with the release of his new album, “Divide” (÷).

-“Divide” is the fastest-selling pop album in the U.K. by a male artist after debuting at number one.
-“Divide” has sold more copies in the first week of its release than the rest of the U.K.’s Top 500 albums combined (first week sales).
-16 of the Top 20 U.K. songs are Ed’s, which got him the record of the “most simultaneous U.K. Top 20 singles.”
-“Shape of You,” was the most streamed song on Spotify in the first day of its release with over 6.13 million plays. “Drag Me Down” (One Direction) held the record before “Shape of You” with 4.75 million plays back in 2015.
-A global record, Ed became the first singer to drop two songs at the same time that wound up being in the top-10 in the U.S. AND the U.K. In addition, Ed was the first artist ever to debut two singles simultaneously that made Top-10 in the US.

That’s pretty awesome, and some of those numbers are just stunning. More copies sold in the first week than every other top-500 album combined? Wow…

Another cool fact – all 16 songs from the “Deluxe” edition album made Spotify’s top-50 streamed songs list.
