Kids do all sorts of things that their friends do – dress similarly, watch similar movies and TV shows, and use social media the same. These “challenges” seem to come up in a new form every month or so (ice bucket, mannequin, etc), and right now it’s the “Hell Challenge.”
The aim of the “Hell Challenge” is to irritate the parent/get yelled at by the parent by asking “Is ‘hell’ a bad word?” When the parent answers yes or no, the child now says something along the lines of “well why the hell not?” or “why the hell didn’t you tell me that?” That usually causes the parent to yell at the child for using foul language, even though just seconds earlier it was determined to be or not to be a bad word.
And kids are videoing the event (note, obvious use of the word “hell” in these videos):
So, what do you think? Harmless prank, kids being kids, or a “7” on the “annoying-meter?”
