Target is planning a big redesign of their stores, and they’ll be based on the concept stores they opened last year in LA. They’re going for a more modern, hip style, with special product lighting, curved aisles, concrete floors, and some other touches.
They’re even planning on using separate entrances for the store. One to use the full store “experience,” and another if you just need to run in quickly for a grocery item or to pick up an online order. They say they’ll even offer curbside order pickup, where someone will bring your items out to your car for you.
The design change is thought to bring better looks to the store, with concrete floors (with stencilled designs), wood exposed beams, and even a new Starbucks style. They say the grocery items will be moved to the front of the store too, which will make shopping for the last few items on the list quick and easy. They’ve even hired a veteran grocery executive who comes from 30 years of experience building other successful stores at another company.

I wonder if this means those giant red balls from the front of the store are going away too?
