If you, or someone you know, use EpiPens to treat severe allergic reactions, you may want to check the lot number on your box.
According to WLKY, a huge recall of EpiPens has been initiated because the devices weren’t activating. Mylan, the company that produces the devices, has state the malfunctions have been caused by a potential defect in a supplier component.
A spokesperson for the company went on to state:
“The recall is being expanded to include additional lots as a precautionary measure out of an abundance of caution.”
As malfunctions with the device could cause potentially life-threatening situations, it’s highly recommended to check and see if you have a device on the recall list. Mylan is offering free replacements for all those with affected devices.
