An educational science blog posted the video to their Twitter page, @ScienceMobileEN after asking the simple question, “Ever wondered what #ticklemeElmo looks like without fur ? #tinkering #takeapart @SciTechMuseum #summercamp #mymuseum2017”
Well, they answered it; and it’s creepy-as-all. We’re only assuming they maliciously stripped all the fur from the hottest toy out of 1996 (we’re surprised they found one that still works). A furless-Elmo reveals the main “bones” of the toy, displaying the touch sensors that trigger the laughing-fit, and all the linkage that makes his arms and legs flail around. With no fur or padding to give the toy its shape, it just looks like a weird alien-baby from the latest generic horror movie release this summer.
Without fur-ther adou (see what I did there?), here’s the video.
Ok, I guess it’s not actually THAT creepy, but it’s still a very unusual thing to see. Very interesting as well, if you’re into seeing how things work. Definitely educational, if not a little odd and morbid.
