Next March, it’s back. After finishing up last year, what was at the time its final season, American Idol has been revived.
ABC made the deal, and they’re planning to air it, beginning next March, on Sunday nights. They’re still working out some planning things, but they’re going to keep it as a singing reality show. No word on who will host the show, since Ryan Seacrest is co-hosting “Live with Kelly” in New York now. He actually relocated to NY for that job too, and since American Idol is primarily LA based, maybe we’ll get a new host. Another source says that he’s “open” to hosting, but the job would simply add to his already impressively-full schedule.
Judges? No word on that either, but Kelly Clarkson’s name has been tossed around. She of course won in the very first season of American Idol, and has had an extremely successful career since 2002. She has been a guest-judge on the show, so she does have experience judging, and she has a great “inside-view” of how the show works, so we think she’d be a great fit.
NBC wanted Idol, but, well, they have “The Voice,” so that would just have been competition against their own show.
