Our beloved, farm-surrounded town has some of the worst air in the nation? Say it ain’t so!
It’s true there have been improvements in pollution levels, as in pollution overall is much better than it’s been in years past. Despite that though, Sacramento and surrounding are in the 8th spot, out of the whole country, for most unhealthy air.
We rank right there beside LA, Bakersfield, Fresno, and Modesto, all of which are in the top-10 “Worst Ozone Pollution” list. It’s not completely preventable though, as all the fires we’ve had the past few years are to blame for some of that. Full disclosure, the information used for this ranking was collected in 2013, ’14, and ’15.
Officials say that if you have some kind of respiratory issues, like asthma, lung disease, or weak lungs/breathing, you should monitor the daily air quality reports and make sure you’re prepared for the day.
