Hopefully it worked.
A 16-year-old boy jumped into the zebra enclosure at the Oklahoma City Zoo. He was seen on security cameras jumping in, then leaving the scene. Once zoo security staff found him, they detained him until local police arrived who then gave him a ticket for criminal trespassing before sending him home with dad. Embarrassing.
During questioning, the boy says he jumped the fence because some friends of his dared him to, and then said that a girl said she’d give him her phone number if he jumped in.
Zoo officials say that he did not have any sort of direct contact with any animals, and that the animals were only “startled,” but completely unharmed.
Oklahoma City Zoo Deputy Director Barry Downer said in a statement “the safety and security of both our guests and animals is our priority. Our animal habitats are designed both to keep animals in and to keep the public out, so situations such as this do not occur. The young man put himself in a serious situation, which endangered himself, our animals and staff.”
No word on if he received the girl’s phone number or not.
