Tiger Woods, pro golfer, was arrested Monday morning (05-29-17) around 3am for DUI. He was pulled over after being caught “driving erratically.” The booking sheet apparently shows that Tiger had “an unlawful blood alcohol level,” and it’s also been reported (although not verified) that the arresting officer noted “alcohol on Woods’ breath,” and that Tiger became “arrogant.” He also reportedly refused the breathalyzer.
Tiger released a statement after the arrest, in which he stated that alcohol was not involved, but it was prescription medicines having an “unexpected reaction” after being mixed together. Here’s his statement:
I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions,” Woods said in a statement Monday evening. “I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.
He says he did cooperate with the police, and later went on to thank them for their professionalism, specifically the Jupiter Police Department and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Tiger Woods’ girlfriend, Kristin Smith, was shopping when she found out about the arrest. She was at Neiman Marcus in Dallas, TX when she got a phone call. Reports say that she “went crazy,” said “I knew it, I knew it,” began crying, and then bought around $5,000 worth of items, and left.
