And they were caught on camera, rather calmly, heading away from the scene of the attack.
Spencer Gilbert, River Allen, Jordan Stephen, and Starry Faircourt are friends from Folsom, and they’re in the middle of a 3-week backpacking trip across Europe. When the London Bridge attack happened on Saturday, they happened to be in town.
Their account of the situation begins in their hotel’s bar. They were talking about what their evening was going to entail when, they say, a security guard began patting people down “with no explanation.” They decided to leave the bar and return to their room for the night. Shortly after settling back in, a hotel employee came to their room, and told them to evacuate. Once they got to the street, Spencer says that police told the group to “get as far away from London as we feasibly can.”
While they were running down the street heading out of London by foot, cameras captured the 4 of them while covering the situation. But the part of the story that’s gone viral is the guy on the right side of the picture.
The guy on the right seems rather unfazed, and just as the tweet says, “the bloke on the right isn’t spilling a drop.” He’s just keeping calm, sipping his pint as he heads out of town.
The London Bridge attack happened Saturday evening when someone driving a van began running into people on London Bridge. The van stopped, and 3 attackers got out and began stabbing people. Within a few minutes, police were able to stop the attackers, but not before 7 people were killed, and 48 more injured, some severely, and many stabbed.
