SpongeBob SquarePants Musical Finally Hitting Broadway

Remember back in 2015 we told you that there was a SpongeBob Squarepants musical in the works, and it was heading to Broadway? Well, that’s finally happening, and it still promises to be even better than we thought.

It still has a bunch of music written by huge names, including the work David Bowie did while he was still with us. Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and Steven Tyler, The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Sara Bareilles, John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, Panic at the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants, T.I., and Alex Ebert from Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. The show ran in Chicago last summer, and (about a year after the original estimate) now it’s heading to The Palace Theatre on Broadway in the Big Apple. It’s slated for a December 4th debut, with previews beginning on November 6th. Tickets for the show are going on sale June 26th, so it looks like it’s pretty much set in stone, and happening. If you want to see it and are planning a trip to New York around then (or if you want to plan a trip just for the show), well, there you go.

Details on the show here.
