Pornosexuality is a new term, and in the simplest way to explain it, it refers to people who prefer porn to sex. Sex addiction therapist Christine Lozano says that “the convenience of getting off online without the potential work, vulnerability, intimacy, and connection with others can be appealing to some.”
It’s also different from other sexual orientations (gay, trans, etc) because it’s “a learned behavior.” It’s void of human-to-human connection and bond. Christine went on to explain that people who watch porn arent necessarily pornosexuals, but experts warn that it shouldn’t be someone’s sole sexual outlet. However, regular viewing of pornographic material will increase someone’s likelihood of becoming a pornosexual due to desensitizing, physically and mentally.
So why is it on the rise? Probably because it’s much more easily accessible to anyone, and maybe because as more people spend time on social media, they actually find themselves becoming more isolated and drawn away from people. That’s a theory, anyway.
