For The Record, Chocolate Milk Doesn’t Come From Brown Cows

7% of adults, not kids, but adults, think that chocolate milk is a product of brown cows.

Some fun facts and numbers to entertain you on a Friday, according to a survey by the Innovation Center for US Dairy.

7% of adults think chocolate milk comes from brown cows.
48% of people don’t seem to know where chocolate milk comes from at all.
37% of people admit they drink milk straight from the carton.

One person responding to the survey pointed out that in the old Facebook game “Farmville” (remember that?), that brown cows did actually produce chocolate milk. And we can’t forget those Hershey’s commercials, either. All things that may have contributed to the confusion.

Another interesting fact is that chocolate milk is just as good for you as regular milk, and some research points out that kids who drink chocolate milk actually may be healthier because they drink more of it (since it tastes good).

But remember – if it’s brown and comes out of a cow, you probably don’t want to consume it.
