Let that sink in for a minute. (Sink, get it? I love puns too much)
Spirulina, better known as pond scum, is the latest power food trend. It actually seems to have a lot of nutrients in it that benefit the body, and for those who always post their foods to Instagram, it looks good in pictures too, apparently, as seen below.
The trend started at The End coffee shop in Brooklyn (if you’re wondering why that sounds familiar, well, click here). Here’s some pond scum in one of their new creations, the “Merbabe Latte.”
It’s full of calcium, potassium, and pond-water flavor (wait, that’s not a benefit), so it’s good for blood-pressure. It also has niacin, vitamin B, and iron. It cal help reduce inflammation, and risk for heart and liver diseases. So if you can get past the (assumingly) terrible taste, give it a shot. Hey, another pun!
