Jack Viglianco is just 15, and has saved a child’s life. The other great part of the story? He was just 20 minutes into his first shift and a new lifeguard.
Jack says that he heard a “help” and saw a 4-year-old under water, bobbing up and down trying to get air. The 4-year-old was there with a group for a summer camp field trip. The manager of the water park where Jack works praised his efforts, saying that Jack, just the day before, had completed a 5-hour training course and orientation. He wasted no time jumping into the pool to save the boy.
As for how Jack feels about the situation, he said it’s a story he’ll never forget. It’s been a passion of his to become a lifeguard, and knowing that on his very first day doing what he always wanted to do, he was able to save someone – that’s bragging rights for life in our book. Way to go Jack!
