You Shouldn’t Be Diagnosing Medical Concerns Online

We’ve always heard that people always expect the worst when they start to diagnose their medical concerns online, but we never really knew how inaccurate your diagnosis could actually be. Sure it gets made fun of in TV shows, movies, and even among our groups of friends, but we still feel the need to Google something when we’re worried about it.

Well, it turns out that online medical diagnoses are correct only 34% of the time, and that’s honestly higher than we thought it would be. This actually works for the symptom-check websites, and even the over-the-phone doctors too.

They pointed out that the tools are still useful though, as they can give you a pretty good indication on whether or not (or how soon) you should go see a doctor. But overall, the tools are generally incorrect, so don’t worry, you likely don’t have -insert disease here- just because you found a small bump on the back of your hand.
