Talk about working around the clock. A Kentucky Dr was settling into her room to deliver her second baby when she heard screams from the next room over and jumped up to help.
Dr. Amanda Hess put a gown on to cover herself and went into the room to assist another woman in labor because the on call doctor was out of the building. The woman who was giving birth to her 4th child, Leah Halliday- Johnson was 1-cm dilated when she got to the hospital but the baby ended up coming a lot sooner than expected and she was coming with the umbilical cord wrapped loosely around her neck. She was told not to push because the on call doctor was still on his way back from his break. That wasn’t an option, that baby was coming so Dr. Hess came to the rescue. She stepped in, wearing her own hospital gown and delivered a healthy 8lb little girl after just two short pushes. The on call doctor eventually arrived and finished off the procedures while Dr. Hess went back to her room and later delivered another healthy baby girl.
