Taylor Swift was, according to her, the victim of a sexual assault – a groping. She says that a former radio DJ grabbed her butt during a backstage meet & greet, and he’s claiming that her claim caused him to lose his job. He sued her, she countersued him, it’s been an ugly battle for the past 4 years, and it’s finally going to court today.
The “incident happened on June 2nd in 2013, and the DJ, David Mueller, was fired on June 4th, after Taylor’s team sent the picture evidence to the radio station. See that picture here. Two years later, David Mueller sued Taylor, saying that her false accusations got him fired. Taylor countersued a month later, saying that it was clearly his intent to “grab” her butt, requested a jury trial, and stated that any money she wins from the court battle will be donated to charities that fight against and protect women from sexual assault.
Now the whole thing is finally heading to court, today marks the beginning of the jury selection process. Taylor’s mother will be a witness, as well as her photographer who actually snapped the picture, and a member of her own security team. The court will be open to the public, with 32 seats assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis, as well as another room available with 75 more seats, all for access by the general public. So if you’d like to be in the court room, or at least see what happens, now’s your change.
