Millions Of Fire Ants Left Floating After Hurricane Harvey [PICS]

Humans weren’t the only ones affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The Fresno Bee has revealed that millions of fire ants have banded together to survive the flood waters, and they are not happy.

Floating colonies of up to 500,000 fire ants have been spotted around Houston, and officials are warning residents not to touch them.

Paul R. Nester, a specialist with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, explained:

“Floodwaters will not drown fire ants. Floating fire ant colonies can look like ribbons, streamers, mats, rafts, or an actual ‘ball’ of ants floating on the water.”
